Looking for a cheap mobile broadband tariff?
In this article, we’ve reviewed the 5 cheapest mobile broadband providers in Sweden in 2024.
We’ve looked at cheap tariffs on a contract that come with a router, as well as more basic packages that just include a surfing SIM card.
Cheapest mobile broadband offers Sweden
Let’s begin our reviews.
In this section, we’ve looked at the cheapest mobile broadband tariffs in Sweden right now, and explained the differences between them.
1. Tre 5G Mobile Broadband
Tre is almost always the cheapest 5G mobile broadband provider in Sweden.
They sell a mobile broadband tariff with download speeds of around 500 Mbit/s, with a Zyxel NR5103E router included. This means you don’t have to shop around for a separate router or other device once the SIM card arrives in the mail, like you do with some other providers.
This router is a really good bit of kit. In our testing, we were able to consistently see download speeds of 700 Mbit/s, and its Wi-Fi signal strength is great.
Unlimited surfing is included, and for those in rural areas, Tre offers the option to get an external 5G receiver fitted on your property, helping you to get faster download speeds.
Even though the monthly price is already very reasonable, Tre offers an extra discount on this 5G router deal if you already have a mobile subscription with them, which is great.
You do have to enter into a 24 month binding period to join Tre mobile broadband. However, they do have a 14 day return policy, allowing you to test out their mobile broadband service before you commit to the full length of the contract.

2. Chili 4G/5G Mobile Broadband
If you want cheap, simple mobile broadband, Chili is a great choice. They offer a range of different unlimited surfing tariffs, including 4G and 5G options.
When you sign up, all you have to do is choose what download speed you want.
You can get 4G download speeds in order to save money, or get 5G speeds for a slightly higher monthly cost. The good thing is the 4G tariffs still offer fast download speeds of 100 Mbit/s, which is plenty for most households.
There is no router included with Chili mobile broadband, and their offers are quite basic. However, the upside of this is there is no binding period, and no upfront fees, on any of their mobile broadband tariffs.
The only issue with Chili is they don’t offer the cheapest tariffs overall. If you enter into a binding period with another provider, you will likely get a lower monthly cost.

3. Hallon 4G Mobile Broadband
Hallon offers similar mobile broadband tariffs to Chili. The difference is, you get to choose how much surfing you want with Hallon, rather than what download speed you need.
Each Hallon mobile broadband tariff only comes with 4G download speeds, and has a data limit. However, there are no upfront fees, and the monthly costs are very low.
There is also no binding period with Hallon broadband, and you can roll over your leftover allowance each month, up to a 200GB limit, which most other providers don’t allow you to do.
The lack of an unlimited surfing package is a bit of a downside. We wouldn’t recommend Hallon mobile broadband if you’re looking for something to be your main way of getting online at home.
However, if you just want extra data for your phone hotspot, or a mobile broadband solution for short visits to the summer house, Hallon is definitely worth looking into.

4. Comviq 4G Mobile Broadband
Comviq offers a few different 4G broadband tariffs to choose from, and they’re very flexible.
By default, there is no binding period with Comviq mobile broadband, and you get unlimited surfing included. However, you can also choose to commit for 24 months, and in return, you’ll get a 4G router included, as well as a discount on your monthly cost.
The flexibility that Comviq offers is great, and there is no setup fee on either of these deals. Plus, Comviq’s monthly fees are very low, especially given that unlimited surfing is included.
If you want unlimited 4G mobile broadband, Comviq is a great choice. Their prices are very hard to beat, and no other providers offer 4G broadband with an included router.
The only downside to Comviq mobile broadband is the lack of tariffs with 5G download speeds.

5. Telenor 5G Mobile Broadband
Telenor’s mobile broadband offers are most similar to those offered by Tre.
They sell 5G broadband deals with a router included free of charge, and a 24 month commitment period.
Also, just like with Tre, you can get a Wi-Fi receiver installed if you need one, and you can test the router for 14 days and return it if you’re not happy with the speeds, no questions asked.
The downside to Telenor is their monthly costs are higher. While there is a discount offered for the first 12 months, once the introductory price expires, Telenor is more expensive than Tre.
However, you can get a discount if you already have a mobile subscription with Telenor. Therefore, their broadband tariffs are definitely still worth looking at, especially if you’re an existing mobile customer.

What you need to know
In this part of the article, we’ve discussed what you need to know when shopping for a cheap mobile broadband tariff.
Which is the cheapest mobile broadband provider in Sweden?
The cheapest mobile broadband offer you can choose will depend on the type of tariff you’re looking for.
- If you want 4G mobile broadband and don’t mind having a 100-200GB monthly surfing limit, Hallon will be the cheapest.
- If you want unlimited 4G mobile broadband, Comviq or Chili is normally the cheapest.
- If you want unlimited 5G mobile broadband, Tre is normally the cheapest.
It’s also worth noting, different providers offer different prices to different people. If you’re already a Tre or Telenor mobile customer for example, you can get a cheaper mobile broadband tariff with them.
Can you get cheap 5G broadband?
If you want fast download speeds, it is possible to get cheap 5G broadband. However, 5G will typically cost a decent bit more than 4G mobile broadband.
On a short-term basis, the cheapest way to get 5G broadband is normally to buy a surfing SIM from a provider like Chili. These tariffs are quite basic, but they allow you to get online with 5G download speeds very cheaply, and they don’t normally have a binding period.
However, you can normally get cheaper 5G mobile broadband by entering into a 24 month contract with a provider like Tre. Although you have to commit for a long time, the benefit of doing this is you get a router included free of charge, and you get unlimited surfing as well.
Should I get mobile broadband with a router included?
Most cheap mobile broadband providers don’t offer a router or mobile hotspot device you can use to get online. This means that you’ll have to buy one yourself, or use your phone’s hotspot to connect to the internet.
If you plan on getting online using mobile broadband for a short period, and don’t want a long term commitment, getting a SIM-only tariff can be a good idea. The only downside is you’ll have to pay a decent amount upfront for a router – this can be quite expensive, especially if you need a 5G router.
If you want a Wi-Fi router to be included with your mobile broadband tariff, you’ll likely have to enter into a 24 month binding period. In return for the commitment, you’ll also get a lower monthly cost, most of the time.
On the whole, if you want to use mobile broadband for an extended period, entering into a contract that includes a router can help you save quite a lot of money over the long term. Not only because the router is included, but also because your monthly cost will be lower on a contract with a binding period.
How much should I expect to pay for mobile broadband?
Typically, you can expect to pay about 300-450 SEK per month for cheap mobile broadband in Sweden.
The exact amount you’ll pay will depend on:
- How much surfing is included.
- Whether the tariff comes with a Wi-Fi router.
- The length of the binding period (if any).
- Whether you’re entitled to 4G or 5G download and upload speeds.
If you only need a 50-100GB monthly data limit, you might be able to get 4G mobile broadband for about 200 SEK per month with a provider like Hallon.
How to check your mobile broadband coverage
Before buying a mobile broadband tariff, it’s very important to check the network coverage at your address, to ensure you get good 4G or 5G signal with the network you’re considering. Otherwise, your download and upload speeds will be quite slow.
To do this, put your postcode in on each provider’s network coverage map. Here are the links to the coverage maps of the carriers we’ve reviewed in this article:
How to save money on mobile broadband
If you’re on a tight budget, here are some ways to save money on your mobile broadband bill:
- Enter into a 24 month binding period, if you can. This will lower your monthly cost, and may give you free access to a 4G or 5G router.
- Use 4G mobile broadband rather than 5G – 4G tariffs are often a lot cheaper.
- Shop around for the cheapest provider. It pays to look at the websites of at least three different companies to see which offers the cheapest prices.
- Don’t pay for unlimited surfing, if mobile broadband will not be your primary way of getting online. If you’ll only be using mobile broadband occasionally, and not many people will be getting online, you might be able to get away with a 50-100GB or so monthly surfing limit.
- Take advantage of any discounts you may be eligible for. Although this is rarer than it used to be, some mobile broadband providers offer discounts for students or seniors, and for existing customers of the mobile network (such as people who have a mobile phone plan).
How to decide how much surfing you need
Most of the time, you will need unlimited surfing when purchasing mobile broadband, otherwise you will hit your usage limit very quickly. This is especially true if mobile broadband will be your main way of getting online at home.
You will only be able to get away with a smaller 50-100GB monthly surfing limit if;
- You only use mobile broadband occasionally, and only for one or two people.
- You don’t do data-intensive activities very often, such as streaming HD or 4K video, or downloading large files.
- You live alone, don’t work from home, and don’t often perform large file downloads.
Conclusion
You’ve reached the end of our cheap mobile broadband buyer’s guide.
Remember, if you want to save as much money as possible, getting 4G mobile broadband is normally the best way of doing this. For most couples and small families, the 50-100 Mbit/s download speeds offered by 4G are enough to get by.
