Allente broadband overview
Allente is a relatively new company, founded in 2020, which offers cable TV and IPTV services in the Nordic countries.
When you go on their website, you’ll notice that the company has a large focus on TV products. However, they also offer broadband deals as well.
Allente sells fibre broadband packages – they don’t currently offer ADSL or mobile broadband solutions. As a result, their broadband tariffs are quite straightforward.
With Allente, you can choose from the following fibre broadband packages:
- Broadband 100 (100 Mbit/s download and upload speed)
- Broadband 250 (250 Mbit/s download and upload speed)
- Broadband 500 (500 Mbit/s download and upload speed)
- Broadband 1000 (1000 Mbit/s download and upload speed)
Each Allente broadband package comes with unlimited surfing.
How buying Allente broadband works
Once you choose a broadband package from Allente, you’ll then get the choice to add on a TV tariff, since IPTV is a big part of Allente’s service offering.
The basic TV package is selected by default. To avoid buying a broadband and TV bundle, you’ll need to click on the basic TV tariff, and then click “Remove”, otherwise you’ll have to pay extra, and you’ll also have to pay for a TV box.
At this stage, you’ll have the option to add on a Wi-Fi router, if you don’t already have one. The downside is, you will need to pay a monthly router rental fee over 24 months, which makes the router quite expensive by the time you own it.
It’s best to bring your own Wi-Fi router when buying Allente broadband, if possible.
Can I get Allente broadband where I live?
Allente broadband is available throughout most of Sweden, but their coverage is not as good as bigger providers like Telenor, especially in rural areas.
Essentially, if you live in a city or suburban area, you should be able to get Allente broadband, as they work with most city networks in Sweden. However, in the countryside, you might not be able to use Allente.
To find out whether or not Allente broadband is available where you live, visit their website and put in your postcode.
Allente broadband customer service
When it comes to customer support and customer satisfaction, Allente Broadband is not a market leader. They do not appear in the top five best broadband providers in testing, according to the Svenskt Kvalitetsindex (SKI).
In saying this, customer complaints about Allente mostly relate to their TV products, such as issues with their streaming app. Allente’s broadband service is very reliable, and their support team is helpful.
However, other providers like Ownit Broadband are a better choice if you want fantastic customer service.
Allente broadband router
Allente gives you the option of paying for an Arris NVG468MQ Wi-Fi router when you sign up as a new customer.
The router’s strengths are its support for IPTV, and the fact it has four gigabit Ethernet ports – many default routers sold by broadband providers only come with two LAN ports.
However, this router doesn’t support Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 – the latest wireless internet standards. As a result, its Wi-Fi speeds aren’t the fastest, and you may need to use mesh Wi-Fi if you have a large home, to ensure you get good signal throughout the house.
The main issue with Allente’s router though is the monthly price they’re charging for it. After 24 months, you’ll have paid a huge amount of money for this router, given its specs.
If you choose Allente broadband, we highly recommend bringing your own Wi-Fi router, rather than paying for their Arris NVG468MQ unit.
Allente broadband value for money
One good thing about Allente broadband is they don’t charge a connection fee on their broadband plans. They do charge a shipping fee for their router, however this cost is quite small compared to the setup fees charged by most other providers.
Allente’s monthly costs are good value, but they’re not the cheapest provider on the market. Given that Allente isn’t particularly known for having great customer service, and doesn’t offer much in the way of bonuses or extras, Allente broadband doesn’t offer particularly good value overall.
The main reason to choose Allente broadband is their TV packages. If you want a broadband and TV tariff, they have a lot of different bundles to choose from.
What’s good about Allente broadband
There are a lot of positives to Allente broadband:
- They offer broadband tariffs with no upfront costs (other than a small shipping fee).
- They have a huge range of TV channel add-ons you can choose from.
- Their broadband monthly costs are quite reasonable – they don’t hike the price after three months like some other providers do.
What’s not so good about Allente broadband
On the other hand, there are some downsides to Allente if you’re looking for a new broadband provider:
- Their router rental costs are quite expensive, and you can’t choose to buy a router from them upfront.
- Allente’s customer service isn’t known to be particularly good.
- Although Allente is not expensive, they don’t offer any initial discounts for new customers like Telenor or Ownit does.
Conclusion: should you buy Allente broadband?
Allente is a good choice if you want a broadband and TV deal. They specialise in providing IPTV and cable TV services, and they have a huge range of channels to choose from.
If you’re looking for a broadband-only deal, Allente is still worth looking into, but they’re only really a good choice if you already have a fibre-compatible Wi-Fi router you can use – we don’t recommend using the one you can rent from them.
Overall, we rate Allente broadband 3.3 out of 5.
Allente alternatives
If you’re not set on Allente fibre broadband, here are some other top Swedish broadband providers you could consider, and how they differ from Allente.
1. Ownit fibre broadband
In comparison to Allente, Ownit performs better in testing. They offer better customer service and have better customer satisfaction, according to the Svenskt Kvalitetsindex (SKI).
Also, Ownit’s monthly costs are very reasonable. Despite having such good customer satisfaction, they’re often cheaper to buy from than Allente, and they also often have a discount for the first three months of the contract, which is a nice touch.
Overall, if you’re looking for fast fibre broadband, it’s definitely worth checking out Ownit.
2. Tre mobile broadband
If you want to save money on broadband, or if you live somewhere with no fibre broadband coverage, Tre is worth looking into.
With Tre mobile broadband, you’ll connect to the internet using 5G, rather than using cable or fibre technology. This can give you faster download speeds for a lower price, depending on the mobile network coverage in your area.
The downside is, mobile broadband has a higher latency than fixed internet, meaning it can sometimes feel less responsive. However, this isn’t a problem for most people, unless you like to play competitive online games.
3. Telenor fibre broadband
Telenor offers the same range of broadband packages as Allente and Ownit, in terms of their download and upload speeds.
The big benefit of Telenor is they include a router free of charge. You don’t have to worry about buying or renting one, which is nice.
Also, Telenor’s monthly costs are quite reasonable, and they only have a 12 month commitment period. The downside is, they charge quite a high upfront cost.
I’m Roger, and I’m the founder of Broadband 4 Europe.
I grew up in Switzerland but live in Germany now, and also lived in South Tirol for a while in the past.
I have a background in IT and have performed extensive research into the broadband markets of most major European countries. Learning about fixed-line broadband markets is my nerdy hobby, but I’m also excited by the possibilities that 5G (and eventually 6G) broadband will provide us in the future.
When I’m not researching broadband companies and their networks, you’ll find me playing volleyball or the piano.
